Welcome to The Lemon Wedge!
My name is Dana. I graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a B.S. in Human Nutrition in 2017, I completed my Dietetic Internship at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio in 2018, and am now a Registered Dietitian and finishing my Masters degree at Case Western.
I have been involved in the competitive rhythmic gymnastics world as a gymnast, coach, and spectator for over 12 years. Being involved in a competitive sport has shown me the importance of being active and healthy, which is what led me to my love for healthy eating and goal of being a dietitian. I hope my healthy eating tips and recipes will inspire you to live a healthy life as well.
While I love eating healthy and finding yummy recipes, I still love my desserts. Butternut squash brownies or zucchini almond cupcakes are always a great, healthier dessert options, but I can’t live without the good old fashion gooey caramel chocolate chip cookies or the corner piece of cake with extra frosting. It’s all about balance. I believe in eating what you enjoy (but, of course, some things should not be eaten every day).
Aside from food, I am obsessed with traveling. Car, boat, plane, train- I always love exploring new places. My friends often finding my searching Delta.com for the cheapest flight to who-knows-where instead of scrolling through my Facebook feed. I spent half of my junior year in college studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark and traveling around Europe. So far I’ve hit 26 countries and 21 states, and hopefully there are many more to come.
Along with food and travel, I can’t live without Pinterest and Late Night Comedian clips on YouTube. I am obsessed with the revival of Downtown Detroit, and I don’t go anywhere without my 24oz Starbucks tumbler filled with water (and a wedge of lemon, of course).
